At Cwtchycats we strongly believe in testing our breeding cats for everything available to us at the present time. We aim to breed top quality, healthy kittens and we firmly believe that this is currently the best way to ensure this.

ALL of our breeding cats have been genetically (DNA) tested and have tested normal for PKD as well as the known defective HCM gene (MYBCP3) and also for the known gene that causes HCM in Maine Coons. We have also had echocardiograms / ultrasounds performed by feline cardiologists on all of our breeding cats' hearts to ensure all is at it should be there also. We now DNA test via MyCatDNA, which means all of our breeding Ragdolls are tested for many potential health issues and have tested negative to every one.
We are very proud of this and happy to provide documentary evidence of this to any prospective kitten owners. This means that any kitten born to us will be free of these known defective genes as they are hereditary. We also regularly test for FelV & FiV and can confirm that we are an FiV, FelV negative 'closed' cattery and also carry out random fecal panels periodically. To back our health testing up and show the confidence we have in our kittens, we also offer a comprehensive 2 year health guarantee on each and every kitten. Check out our Terms & Conditions for further information on this.

As well as this health assurance we ensure that all kittens are brought up under foot and are well socialised and confident by the time they are ready to leave for their new homes.

  • We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved an Outstanding Cattery award from TICA again in 2022. Sadly, due to COVID restrictions, this is the first year for a while we have been able to do so for a while, but our scores were perfect as in previous visits.
We were the first Ragdoll breeders in UK to have been awarded this and are extremely proud of it. We are  Veterinary inspected and we feel it recognises our dedication and the level of care and facilities for our cats and kittens. On top of that, we gained a perfect score in all sections every year we have applied for it!

  • None of our Ragdolls have Patriarca Gucci in their pedigree. Gucci is thought to be the cat behind some Ragdoll kittens being born with a fatal form of dwarfism, and we will continue to breed cats from pedigrees that do not contain this cat until it is proven as safe to us. For more information about this health issue in Ragdolls please click here.

  • We continue to take our breeding cats to a feline cardiologist for an Echocardiogram, Electrocardiogram and Auscultation of their hearts!  This is an ongoing program for us to give our owners peace of mind and to ensure that we breed the healthiest, happiest cats possible. This is the gold standard as far as heart health is concerned! All of our breeding cats have now had at least one "normal" echocardiogram with our feline cardio as well as negative DNA tests for the known HCM & PKD genes plus a multitude of other DNA health tests!
  • We now have a dedicated Facebook page for our cats and kittens (and their owners):
